This was a promotional poster for the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical produced by Robert Stigwood. It is based on Catholic religious store Jesus-as-a-W.A.S.P. imagery with a stained glass border using Celtic motifs. The interlocking angels at the bottom were used as the poster for the show as well as the album cover, in gold on dark maroon. This poster was originally printed on buff laid paper and is hard to find these days. The superstar’s rep, according to some fans, has been somewhat despoiled by many of his latter day followers, alas.
